PRIVACY POLICY
At Peoples State Bank, we believe the confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of our fundamental
responsibilities. And while information is critical to providing quality service, we recognize that one of our most
important assets is our customers’ trust. Thus, the safekeeping of customer information is a priority for Peoples State
Bank.
To inform our customers about our commitment to privacy we have developed the following privacy disclosure, which is
delivered on account openings, periodically to existing customers, and on request.
Privacy Disclosure
Protecting the privacy of our customers is important to Peoples State Bank, its Board of Directors and its
employees. Therefore, the following policy has been instituted to serve as a standard for all Peoples State Bank’s
employees for collection, use, retention, and security of nonpublic personal information.
WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT
“Nonpublic personal information” is nonpublic information that we obtain in connection with providing a financial
product or service to our customers. For example, nonpublic personal information includes information regarding account
balances, payment histories, and overdraft histories.
We may collect “nonpublic personal information” about our customers from the following sources:
- Information we receive from you on your applications and other forms.
- Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or others.
- Information we receive from third parties such as credit bureaus.
WHAT INFORMATION WE DISCLOSE
We are permitted under law to share information about our experiences or transactions with our customers and their
accounts (such as account balances and payment histories with us) with companies related to us by common control or
ownership (“affiliates”).
We also are permitted under law to disclose nonpublic personal information about our customers to “nonaffiliated third
parties” (i.e., third parties that are not members of our corporate family) in certain circumstances. For example, we may
disclose nonpublic personal information about our customers to such third parties to assist us in servicing a loan or
account with us; to government entities in response to subpoenas; and to credit bureaus. We do not disclose any nonpublic
personal information to any other third parties, except as permitted by law.
When customers decide to close an account or become an inactive customer, we will continue to adhere to the privacy
policies and practices in this notice.
OUR SECURITY PROCEDURES
We take steps to safeguard customer information. We restrict access to your personal and account information to those
employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and
procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard our customers’ nonpublic personal information.
Furthermore, this Institution and our Service Providers maintain strong physical, electronic and procedural controls to protect against unauthorized access to customer information. Our computer systems are protected in the following ways:
- Computer anti-virus protection detects and prevents viruses from entering our website, email, and computer network systems.
- Firewalls and intrusion prevention systems block unauthorized access by individuals or networks.
- We use encryption technology, such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL), to protect the transmission of your confidential information. Whenever you login to our Internet banking product or schedule an online transaction through our system, the communication is encrypted. Encryption scrambles transferred data so it cannot be read by unauthorized parties.
- We use strong multi-level authentication and behavior analysis to help prevent unauthorized access to your accounts. Multi-level authentication can help prevent access by someone who may have stolen your login credentials.
EMAIL PRIVACY
Please do not use our general email contact address to communicate personal or confidential information to us. If you
choose to include your own financial information in this non-secure email, we will remind you that our security policy
prevents any response that contains private financial data.
PRIVACY OF CHILDREN
COPPA, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, protects children under the age of 13 from the collection of personal information on the Internet. This financial institution respects the privacy of children. We do not knowingly collect names, emails addresses, or any other personally identifiable information from children.
We are committed to maintaining complete and accurate information about our customers. Should you ever believe that our records contain inaccurate or incomplete information about you, please notify us at 1-800-252-3137. We will investigate your concerns and correct any inaccuracies.
